Words to Live By

I use to make a New Years Resolution every year, and yes it always was the same thing! I think resolutions are a great way to sabotage yourself... So instead I chose words to live by.

Wishing you all a Happy and Blessed New Year in 2009, and keep on blogging!

Checkers Anyone

I love the look of black and white checks, either on the floor or counters! It has that classic timeless look.

Wreaths and Jelly

My version of the Starbuck's Wreath

Large box of Ornaments, Yarn, metal wreath, wire, Hot glue gun!

Jalapeno Christmas Jelly
Ingredients:
1-cup chopped red bell pepper
1/2 cup chopped jalapeno
5 cups white sugar
1 1/2 cups apple cider vinegar
1 (6 fluid ounce) Liquid Pectin (boxes may have 2- 3 ounce packets)

Directions:
1. Remove stems, veins, seeds of the bell and jalapeno peppers. finely chop.(for hotter jelly leave in  jalapeno seeds)
2. In a 5 quart pot over high heat, combine bell and jalapeno peppers, sugar, and vinegar. Bring to a rolling boil; boil 3 minutes. Remove from heat and cool 5 minutes.
3. Add pectin while stirring constantly, let cool for 2 minutes, stirring again for 1 minute.
4. Pour into hot, sterilized jars and top with lids. Secure lids and allow jars to cool slowly, creating a vacuum seal. Once cooled refrigerate. makes 6-8 jars

Why do I wait until the last minute?  I made this wreath a few days ago as a gift. It is a take off from Starbucks Wreaths,  I bought enough supplies to make a few more (not gonna happen)
Oh and the Jalapeno Christmas Jelly! My daughter and I stayed up until 3am finishing.... It's fabulous over cream cheese and crackers. Yum yum
